Glass applique sculpture
2012
This was one of the first 3D applique pieces that I made back in 2012. The pattern is reminiscent of a road map and the piece is about memory formation – how trips and journeys (both real and metaphoric) become part of you and your life experience. As you move around the piece the colours and patterns overlap and change – mirroring how your attitudes and ideas change over time – perhaps with the benefit of hindsight or distance (in time) from the experience.
I hardly got to know this sculpture as I finished him one day and the next he was sold. I wonder how he’s doing sometimes!
